I don’t think I could ever abuse my sub.
I could and do hurt her, certainly; she likes that.
But I couldn’t abuse her, in a way she didn’t enjoy. There’s too much love and affection there. When she’s good, I reward her. When she’s bad, I take away her rewards, rather than truly punishing her.
But then, she’s fully trained. She doesn’t need punishment to learn to behave, she already knows how.
I guess I’d just never want to see her cry.
